Where is Atuh Beach Nusa Penida?

Atuh Beach is on the east coast of Nusa Penida.

Not far from it is Diamond Beach and the famous Rumah Pohon Tree House.

The beach is in a small bay, surrounded on both sides by steep cliffs.

The reason why the location is famous is the broken cliff that overlooks the beach.

This beach is not quite what it appears to be. There are two access roads, each ending on one side of the beach.

I recommend parking near the Diamond Beach side to be able to access both Atuh Beach and Diamond Beach easily.

 

Is it possible to swim at Atuh beach?

The tide was high when we were there. Some people were in the water, but we decided against swimming. Even though the beach is sandy towards the inner bay there are many pebbles which are replaced by bigger stones when you get close to the sea.

If you plan to go swimming at Atuh Beach, you should bring some water shoes. Make sure to check the tides. If the tide is too low, you can't swim. Don't venture too far from the shore, because there is no lifeguard at Atuh Beach.

If the waves are small, you can go snorkeling, but you will have to wear a mask. Watching the sunset at Atuh Beach is unlike any other experience. I will talk about it further below.

 

Sunrise at Atuh Beach is very impressive!

You should go to Atuh Beach in the morning so that you can enjoy the sunrise over the beautiful sea.

The beautiful reflections in the lake created by the sun's rays will give you a great photo opportunity.

Bring your camera and plenty of batteries. Take lots of pictures!

Diamond Beach

You will first pass by the path leading to Diamond Beach before reaching Atuh Beach if you choose the southern road. There is a beautiful beach with palm trees and a huge rock near the shore, if you take the path and climb down the stairs carved into the cliff. This place is named after the rock which is shaped like a diamond.

If the tide is high, you won't be able to walk on the beach because the waves reach the cliff and it's not safe. If you want to explore Diamond Beach from one end to another, you should visit it when the tide is low.

 

Tree House

The wooden Tree House is well-known due to its popularity on social media. The Tree House is a short ride to the tree house from Diamond Beach and Atuh Beach.

You have to take a few stairs down from the parking lot before you get to the house. There are a lot of people here trying to take pictures.

Even if you do not climb the stairs, you can still enjoy the views. The scenery is created by the tall limestone cliffs and the turquoise water.
