Snorkeling at Crystal Bay
Crystal Bay is a famous snorkeling destination in Nusa Penida. Together with Gamat Bay, it’s one of the best spots to snorkel on the island.
You can rent snorkel gear from one of the beach warungs to discover the coral and marine life of this beautiful spot.
You can see turtles quite regularly, as well as lots of different kinds of fish and very colorful coral.
Be careful however that the current is strong, as it can be at all locations along this coastline.
You might want to bring your fins and don’t go too far out.
Use the mooring points of the boats that are parked in the bay as a reference point.
I do not recommend you to go beyond these points. Even though it might be tempting to visit the small temple that is located in the middle of the bay, please, just do not do it.
Crystal Bay beach
The beach is a wonderful place to spend the day, for example under a sunshade.
Crystal Bay Beach is the most accessible beach on Nusa Penida. From your car or motorcycle you can park and walk right to the beach, no stairs to worry about.
It's possible to get a drink, a coconut or some basic snacks at a beach warung.
Relax enjoy the sun and a cool drink all day.
Crystal Bay sunsets
Sunset is yet another great time of the day to visit Crystal Bay. It starts at 5:30 pm.
The sun doesn't always set in the same place in the bay.
Whether you’re here in the spring or fall, you’ll be happy to know that you can have the chance to capture beautiful pictures of the sunset on the rocks at this beach.
When evening sets in, the sky is often colored with red, pink, and orange hues.
Another good option is to have a picnic on the terrace of the house on the east side of the beach, just before the stairs up to the top of the hill.
The sunsets here are amazing! Take the stairs to the top of the cliff to get a really good view of the sunset.
And for hikers, the hike from there to Broken Beach takes about an hour.
Are you ready to get up in the morning and face the day? If so, you will need some courage, and a pair of good sneakers.
